Once upon a time, O Temple Cart!
You were the embodiment of the Devine art
Where is all that gone now?
Who pushed you to this state and how?
At least once a year they decorated you with flowers
But once the festival is over, they denied you the covers
Alas! You were ravaged by the wind and rain
And slowly deteriorated and now you are in ruin
Once upon a time they cared you so much
At least once in a year you carried the Lord!!
Now that they have discarded and neglected, too much
You have become home for anthills, how sad!!
Passing through the passage of time
You have made way for new generation
Carts that have electric motors and wheels for steering
And denied people an involvement with divine feeling
Yet you convey a message for the mankind
That for the older generation always be kind
Please look after them well with due respect
Don't let them become victims of neglect
Note: This was written about 3 years back after visiting the Temple Cart (Ratham) at K.R.S North bank. during 1984-85 also this ratham was well intact. in about 10-15 years, completely deteriorated..
Very good photo and a nice write up.
